Photographer, Director, Visual Storyteller

who is fern

Poppy's deep love for movies dates back to childhood. Starting her artistic career off as a surreal portrait photographer, Fern grew tired of the limitations of the medium and stepped into the world of film. Her directorial debut music video for Crumble Boy, “Or Grow,” was released in 2019. Three years later, she completed a twenty-three-minute short dark comedy titled “A Stop Along the Way.” Since then, she continues to explore film narrative, with her most recent horror short titled “The Herp” which premiered in 2023. Fern currently lives in Philadelphia with her husband and two cats, Pepe and Silvia.

Formerly known as e.p.town/Emily P. Townsend. To ring in the new year, I have decided to adopt a pseudonym that correlated with the person I became in 2022. Someone different and new; Aware and powerful. I had to step out of Emily as I came to terms with a life plagued by abuse. The victim that endured has changed and fern is nothing less than her phoenix.
This year, I’ll be working hard to write, direct, and produce some projects under this new name, in this new world ✨🌞

with love,
Your new/old friend,
fern
