everything behind, nothing ahead (Ongoing)

“Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.” - Jack Kerouac, On the Road

“everything behind, nothing ahead” is a love letter to forgotten places. I am enticed by secret pockets of the earth, fringe culture, and religious iconography. Some of my favorite places are deserted and abandoned as remnants of human life lay frozen and left behind. It is interesting to play with framing as a traveler, especially via car, as we are equally engaging and observing in this life. Uncharted territories bring us back to a baseline of wonder; sprinkled with the thrill of the unfamiliar. I live for enduring the fierce rush from an open window, braving the bite of gas station coffee, feeling the earthy exhale of a cigarette, and watching peach and lilac shades coalesce on the skyline. Moving forward, watching the hills roll and the trees glide by present as a tender metaphor for each moment behind and ahead of us.
